It’s my Parting Shot for my Monday Musings…..
First of all, a shoutout to Gregger and Clayton Kroeker for the fine jobs they do with presenting the morning sports on all three of the stations under the umbrella of the Saskatoon Media Group. They split it up, are sports fans and it shows with the time and care they take to make sure they get all the pertinent stuff on the air! Bravo guys!!
Personally, I’m very thankful for their efforts. When Dave Thomas left us for the not-so-bright lights of Regina to be the voice of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, a dream position for him and one that he does an outstanding job with, and Steve Chisholm stepped away from being the morning show host on 98 COOL, I was afraid I might have to go back to being a morning sports reader and presenter again! I left the full time role almost 20 years ago out of concern for my health and that 3 a.m. wake-up alarms and not always getting an afternoon nap, not including the stress of doing Blades’ hockey and Hilltops’ football – at that time – were having on me! Thank you again, gents!!
The “Homan Empire” keeps piling up titles – back-to-back years of winning the Scotties Tournament of Hearts AND the World Women’s Curling Championships! That’s how it’s supposed to be in curling, but I caution it won’t always be that way! However, I prefer the Homan foursome over the Kerri Einarson quartet and their inability to win a worlds or Olympic gold after earning Canadian baubles!!
Right about now, I’m all-in for any time a Canadian sports team beats an American one – even in soccer! I liked yesterday’s 2-1 triumph for Canada over the Excited States in the bronze medal match in the CONCACAF Nation’s League. That occurred right in the U-S-of-A, in L-A! Just like the real world, Canada over the U-S in the, “Toy Department,” as sports has been long referred to by old school, grumpy news reporter types, will never grow old for this old kid!!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
