For a sixth consecutive season, the Saskatoon Blades have qualified for the W-H-L’s Eastern Conference playoffs, clinching the berth with a 4-1 triumph over the visiting Prince Albert Raiders Saturday night.

The Bridge City Bunch completed a weekend, home-and-home sweep of the Raiders, winning 3-2 in P-A on Friday as well. The recipe for victory was very similar on Saturday as it was on Friday – stellar goaltending, two power play goals, two goals from Hunter Laing and stifling the Raiders’ top offensive players. After Evan Gardner stopped 41 of 43 shots on Friday for the Blue and Gold, Ethan McCallum had a goaltending encore Saturday, in front of 5,330 fans at SaskTel Centre, making 40 saves before a 41st shot eluded him and denied him a shutout as Oli Chenier scored on a power play for Prince Albert with 16 seconds left in the third period. Besides Laing’s two goals, giving him a team-leading 23 for the season, Cooper Williams and Tyler Parr also found the back of the Raiders’ net and added an assist each for two-point games while defencemen Brayden Klimpke and Grayden Siepmann each chipped in a pair of helpers. Besides clinching a post-season berth, Saskatoon and their 33-21-7 record moved into a tie with Brandon for second place in the East Division, one point back of 34-22-6 P-A. The Blades hit the road for games next week in Regina, Brandon and Swift Current.
