Sunday 9am update: A winter storm warning remains in effect for an area stretching in a swathe from Lloydminster southeast through Saskatoon to the Manitoba border.

A winter storm is bringing a wintery mix of snow, freezing rain, and rain to the region. Total snowfall expected is 10 to 20 cm.

Travel is not recommended in several parts of the province including Saskatoon, North Battleford, Swift Current, Weyburn, and Meadow Lake.

1. Sarurday 4pm update: Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for south central Saskatchewan from the Alberta border to north of Lloydminster, heading diagonally south and east to the Alberta border. 

It includes a mix of snow, freezing rain, and/or rain is expected, beginning Saturday night over the west, and after midnight further east with mixed precipitation to begin with and then widespread snow overnight. 

Total snowfall is forecast at between 10 and 20 cm, and maximum wind gusts between 50 and 60 km/h. 

Environment Canada urges drivers in the area to consider postponing non-essential travel and make sure you have an emergency kit with you. 

In the southeast, including Regina, it’s a freezing rain warning with mixed precipitation late Saturday night, changing to a rain/snow mix by morning, with 5 to 10 cm of snowfall expected and windy, gusting to 60 km/h.
