A 68-year-old man is dead following a collision on the Regina Bypass this morning.

At 8:30 a.m., White Butte RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway #1 on the east side of the city.

Officers learned that an eastbound SUV and eastbound semi collided. The female driver of the SUV was taken to hospital with unknown injuries, and her passenger was declared dead at the scene.

The man driving the semi reported no injuries. Road restrictions have since been lifted and White Butte RCMP continue to investigate.

While officers were addressing the scene, five drivers were given tickets by police for driving while on their cell phone while driving past the collision. They were handed tickets ranging from $580 to $2,100.00.

RCMP remind the public that these actions can put the lives of first responders at risk.
