A Huey Helicopter, a Tracker 501 Fire Assault Aircraft, and Convair 580 are just a sample of the aircrafts ready to be explored at the annual Aviation Days, taking place this weekend at the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum.

The museum’s Executive Director, Brian Eikel, says there will also be draws to win free flights with both Mitchinson’s Flight Centre and Millenium Aviation.

“With both of those flight schools, there will be free draws to win discovery flight,” he explains. “If you’re thinking of a career, the specialties are quite varied. As a pilot, you might want to be somebody who is involved with Air Ambulance. Then, you could fly a helicopter, like STARS.”

However, he says it isn’t just about exploring careers. The event is also focused on acknowledging the importance of aviation in Saskatchewan.

“A lot of these airplanes have been involved in our medical infrastructure or transportation infrastructure.”

Both days will begin with a pancake breakfast Hosted by Saskatchewan Air Ambulance in support of MS Research, followed by an overhead fly-by at 9:15am.

“One (of the planes flying by) would be a 1943 Boeing-Stearman. That is actually going to be flown by Gord Lowe. He lives around here. Then we also have a Chipmunk aircraft with the RCAF.”

The museum will have a booth, as well, where visitors can enter their name to win a free Tiger Moth flight, which will be drawn at the end of each day.

For those less interested in the world of flight, face painting, flight simulators, an assortment of vintage cars, and beer gardens will be on site as well. Tickets are available online or at the gate.
