Getting up close and personal with big trucks and heavy equipment has never been easier thanks to ‘Trucktastic!’ a children’s expo happening at Prairieland tomorrow.
Faith Rowland with Family Service Saskatoon, the non-profit organization that is presenting the event, says every year there is something new for ticketholders to check out.
“We’re really excited. We’ve added a school bus this year, so the little ones that are starting to have to take a bus to school can go check it out and see what it’s like to sit on a school bus before the big day.”
Other exhibits include construction and emergency vehicles, tractors and garbage trucks.
Rowland says the expo wouldn’t be possible without Saskatoon’s business community.
“Not only do the businesses volunteer their time and their equipment and the expense of having their people come out to the event, as a thank you we give them complimentary tickets to the event, and the majority of them actually turn those back to us to share with the community.”
Rowland says times are tough for many families, and they are unable to spend the extra money to attend events like this. Because of this, Family Service Saskatoon’s website has the option to buy tickets, but also to sponsor another family’s trip to Truckmaster.
All proceeds will go towards helping Family Service Saskatoon provide counselling, programs and services that promote physical, emotional and mental health.
