Prince Albert RCMP have arrested a 44-year-old Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation man and are searching for a second suspect after a firearm was shot through a vehicle window during a traffic stop.
On Tuesday at 10:15 a.m., RCMP received a report of a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on Sturgeon Lake First Nation. The vehicle, that was stolen from Weirdale on August 17, was located, and a traffic stop was attempted. The vehicle sped away. This happened one more time before the vehicle came to a stop due to mechanical issues.
One of the men inside discharged a firearm inside of the vehicle, shattering a window. Both occupants then fled on foot. Officers seized the illegally modified firearm from the vehicle and began searching for the men in a rural area near the community of Little Red River.
Curtis Ledoux was located hiding in a bush and was arrested. He is facing seven charges and is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court today. The second man was not found.
He is described as a male with short black hair, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 140 lbs.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Prince Albert RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
