One 35-year-old man has been arrested after assaulting a Saskatoon police officer while causing a public disturbance.
At around 11:20 a.m. today, police were called to a mall in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South to assist with an agitated and non-compliant man refusing to leave the property.
Upon police arrival, the man, who was believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant, appeared to be in an erratic and combative state. He is reported to have hit a Constable in the face as a struggle to gain control of him took place.
Additional officers responded, and the man was taken into police custody. A second Constable and mall security guard were also injured during this process.
As a result, the man was transported to SPS Detention where he was medically assessed by a paramedic. His charges, related to assaulting a police officer, are pending.
