A discarded firearm was found outside of Saskatoon’s St. Mark School before school hours on Wednesday.
The firearm was recovered by a staff member and secured in a safe location away from public access, and as a result, the Saskatoon Police Service says there was no threat to the safety of staff or students.
Police came to the school that morning to seize the weapon.
The SPS adds that its School Resource Unit is engaging with school officials and staff to address concerns impacting the school, and a meeting to do so has been scheduled for early next week. In addition, a School Resource Officer has been assigned the file to investigate further.
