Two people facing charges for 2022 death of Onion Lake Cree Nation man

Two people have been arrested in connection to the death of a 46-year-old Abdo Grayman from Onion Lake Cree Nation.

On July 1, 2022, Onion Lake RCMP received a report of an injured man located in a camper next to a residence on the Onion Lake Cree Nation.

He was transported to hospital where he later died. The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit has been investigating his death, and as a result, 21-year-old Dennis Cardinal from Onion Lake was arrested in Onion Lake on November 29, 2023. Then on December 11, 30-year-old Kimberly Thunderchild from Lloydminster was arrested in Edmonton.

The pair were each charged with one count, first degree murder and are scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Wednesday.
