Two Saskatoon men were arrested and are now facing multiple weapon and traffic related charges.
At around 3:20 Thursday morning, officers conducted a traffic stop on an unregistered vehicle in the 700 block of Avenue I South.
While trying to identify the vehicle’s occupants, officers discovered that the driver had given them a false name.
As officers returned to the vehicle to continue their investigation, the driver tried to flee but was unable to gain traction due to weather conditions. Both the driver and passenger were ordered from the vehicle and arrested without further incident.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers found a loaded sawed-off shotgun with the serial number removed, several rounds of ammunition, a folding knife, and $4765 Canadian.
The men, ages 36 and 25, are both facing several weapons-related charges. The 36-year-old has also been charged with evading police, obstruction, and failing to comply with court-imposed conditions.
