Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty says this time of year can be a wonderful season of friends and family coming together in a spirit of warmth, however what is a joyous time for some, can be lonely for others.
In his yearly holiday greeting, he applauds those reach out to people who may be feeling cut off from their communities during this season. He also thanked those who donate their time, talents and funds to food banks, shelters, charities, service groups, and wherever there is need. He says Saskatchewan has an abundance of kind-hearted people.
Mirasty says one of the most fulfilling parts of his role as Lieutenant Governor was acknowledging police, fire fighters, EMTs and other emergency services with exemplary service medals. He thanked the first responders, health care professionals, and members of the Canadian Armed Forces for all they do.
The highlights of his year include a new Canadian monarch being crowned at Westminster Abbey for the first time in over seven decades, and his opportunity to meet with His Majesty at Buckingham Palace. He says he was impressed by both The King’s interest in, and knowledge of our province.
