Not only has the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Dentistry been placed in a prestigious international university ranking for dental schools, but the college has figured prominently on it.
This is the first time the college has made the list, titled the 2023 Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. The subject of Dentistry and Oral Sciences at USask was tied for sixth among all Canadian universities. That ranking also puts the USask College of Dentistry in the 151-200 tier worldwide.
The Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects evaluates the academic performance and reputation of universities and institutions in different fields of study. It compares and assesses the research and educational quality of universities worldwide.
Dr. Walter Siqueira, dean of the College of Dentistry, said in a news release that he cites several new research portfolio-enhancing additions to the college as the reason for its ranking, which will help the college attract top notch professors, staff, and students.
