The Prince Albert Grand Council expressed its approval of Patrick Nogier, the recently appointed interim chief to the Prince Albert Police Service. Grand Chief of the PAGC Brian Hardlotte says Nogier is a strong leader and will be a great guide for the PAPS in this transitional period.
On May 18th, Jonathan Bergen announced his retirement as the Prince Albert chief of police. The decision was made after a Public Complains Commission report was released on the death of 13-month-old Tanner Brass in February of 2022. The report stated that Tanner’s death was the result of a police failure to conduct an adequate investigation into a case of domestic violence and could have been avoided.
Bergen stated he was receiving harsh criticism and personal attacks after the release of the report, hence his retirement and replacement by Nogier.
Patrick Nogier is the Superintendent of the Criminal Investigations Division with the Saskatoon Police Service. He will be the temporary Police Chief in Prince Albert until a permanent replacement can be found.
