Shane Pattison is considered a long-term offender.

The 28-year-old who pleaded guilty to 42 counts of Child-porn related charges in June was given the designation Thursday after a Saskatoon court hearing that started Monday.

Pattison is only allowed to access the internet for uses approved by the courts and is only allowed to have supervised access to anyone under 16.

In addition to the conditional lifetime ban from the internet, Pattison will also be included in the sex offender registry for life.

He was caught re-offending after serving a five year sentence on 53 child porn offenses.

The police investigation into Pattison led to more than 1,300 other investigations into child pornography and the rescues of dozens of children.

The long-term designation means Pattison will face 10-years of supervision after serving a seven-year prison term.
