Community-based organizations around the province will receive up to 10 new staff members to assist with high-need clients thanks to a new pilot investment from the Ministry of Social Services.
The goal of the $656,000 in funding is to support clients by providing them with connections to the services that they require. The program is being expanded to due its previous success with partners like the Salvation Army and YWCA Regina’s My Aunts Place.
Social Services Minister, Gene Makowsky says the investment aims to reduce barriers for clients and accelerate the path to stability for people who struggle with specific or high needs.
The idea originated during conversations with community-based organizations about the obstacles that some clients face. Ministry employees will be placed in cities and towns where Social Services supports are available.
