Two people were arrested Monday evening after evading a traffic stop and resisting arrest in the Waseca area–about 40 kilometres southeast of Lloydminster.
Cut Knife RCMP received a report that a man who was unlawfully at large was travelling through their detatchment area.
Police located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but it was unsuccessful. The pursuit continued onto Highway 16, and a tire deflation device had to be used.
Police say the vehicle continued down the highway at high speeds before pulling to a stop outside of Waseca.
The two people inside the vehicle refused to get out, so the RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team used non-lethal techniques to arrest the pair without injury.
Twenty-nine-year-old Nakota Pooyak of Sweetgrass First Nation and 32-year-old Warren Littlewolfe of Edmonton are each facing three charges and will appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Thursday.
