The Saskatoon Emergency Management has activated a cold weather strategy and are recommending locations for warm-up Saturday, Sunday and into next week. There is also a need for toques, mitts, socks and jackets. Please contact the organizations above if you can help out.
The provincial government also is recommending that the Salvation Army be contacted if emergency services and referrals are needed. People will be directed to appropriate shelter supports in Saskatoon. Salvation Army can be reached at 306-244-6280 or at 338 Avenue C South.
People can also visit or contact the Ministry of Social Services’ Saskatoon Service Centre at 160 – 2nd Avenue South for assistance during the weekday.
The provincial government has also launched the Cold Weather Strategy and says the Ministry of Social Services is working closely with community partners to ensure that everyone has access to safe shelter during the cold weather, and may pay for individuals or families to stay at emergency shelters or hotels in the local or surrounding community.
