This is Vanese Ferguson with Coffee Talk. I don’t regularly concentrate that much on the United States midterms. But of course, with Canada’s financial health being eroded by trade policies orchestrated by U.S. President Donald Trump, I was keen to see how it would go. Well, the Democrats took the Senate and it appears Congress, here’s hoping the tariff situation improves. Or at the least we can nail down a CUSMA deal. In the U.S. House there are still close to 70 seats to be called. But no matter what the Democrats can now push back on U.S. Donald Trump’s trade policies and the Iran war. Some Democrats indicated they wanted an investigation into Donald Trump. I saw an interview with a voter who said they hoped the Democrats wouldn’t waste effort and time trying to impeach Trump and that they get to work, to improve the situation. Isn’t that what we all want from our politicians? But so often is in quite short supply. Doing the right thing and doing the work versus seeking political gain when you already have it. I suspect a political rebuke to that would be; the strategy is to maintain the advantage. What I want is nothing complicated. I just want the people in office to be working on my behalf, the constituencies, communities and provinces behalf.
Blue wave in the U.S.
