A 44-year-old man from Arborfield has been arrested and charged with assault after he hit an occupied police vehicle.
On October 22 at 3:25 p.m., Carrot River RCMP observed a truck speeding on Highway #23 towards Carrot River. The truck proceeded into town and passed through a crosswalk where children were present. Officers turned on their vehicle’s emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop.
The truck initially stopped for police before it reversed into the occupied police vehicle. The driver turned the truck around, exited and started walking away on foot.
When approached by officers, the driver became agitated. Police say a taser was used after the man resisted arrest and tried to escape police custody. Further investigation determined the man was impaired.
Kenneth Reavie faces 11 charges. He appeared in Melfort Provincial Court on Monday.
