The Regina Police Service has charged three people who were injured in a two-vehicle accident on the night of January 4th this year, saying investigators believe the crash was intentionally staged.
Officers responded to the accident at the intersection of 9th Avenue North and Pinkie Road.
Two vehicles with a driver and passenger in each vehicle were injured in the head on crash and were taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injures. Both vehicles suffered significant damage.
SGI notified police of evidence indicating the crash might have been intentional. Through the course of the investigation, investigators say they determined the collision had been deliberately staged.
On September 9th three of the four occupants of the vehicles were arrested. Twenty-four-year-old Akashdeep Singh and 26-year-old Gagandeep Singh are both charged with Fraud over $5,000 and three counts of Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm. Twenty-three-year-old Sukhveer Kaur is charged with one count fraud over $5,000.
The SGI Investigators Unit and members of the Regina Police Service’s Investigative Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team (*ICART), Forensic Identification Unit and Technological Crime Unit all assisted in the investigation. Regina Police Service says *ICART is a highly trained team of police officers that investigates complex collision scenes, often involving serious injury or death.
