Those who are interested in a career in emergency response, volunteering, or simply wanting a better understanding of rescue operations in Saskatchewan, are invited to Kiwanis Memorial Park for Demonstration Day.
Co-chair of the event Shelley Ballard-McKinlay says the day is presented by SARSAV, or Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers.
Attendees can expect demos from Saskatoon Search and Rescue, Parkland Search and Rescue, RCMP, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, and some rescue canines, as well. She says the day is targeted at all demographics.
“For example, we have a high school class coming that are involved in learning more about emergency response and first responders, so they’ll learn a lot from the different agencies involved.”
The event is being held in conjunction with SARscene, the national search and rescue conference, which is being hosted this year by Saskatchewan’s agency.
Events run from 10:00 to 3:00 on Thursday. If you stick around, there is also a flyover from the Royal Canadian Air Force, taking place slightly later at 5:00p.m.
