The man charged in a fatal collision that claimed the lives of three people from Foam Lake on Friday, is in Yorkton Provincial court today.
Forty-year-old Kelly Knopf from Sumter, South Carolina has been charged with three counts each dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
On Friday over the lunch hour, RCMP, EMS, and STARS responded to an accident on a grid road approximately nine kilometres west of Foam Lake.
The driver and two passengers in the SUV died at the scene. They have been identified as a 40-year-old woman, an 8-year-old girl and a 5-year-old girl, all from Foam Lake. A fourth passenger of the SUV, an adult male, was taken to hospital by STARS with serious injuries.
The driver and one passenger in the truck were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while another passenger in the truck was seriously injured.
Through investigation police determined a truck was attempting to pass a semi and collided with an SUV.
