Saskatchewan RCMP continues to investigate an initial firearm discharge and the subsequent flight from police near Pelican Narrows. Early Monday morning around 1 a.m. RCMP say a firearm had been discharged at a vehicle in the community. One occupant of the vehicle was treated at a local clinic for injuries described by police as non-life-threatening.

Saskatchewan RCMP notified the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) that an RCMP firearm was discharged during this investigation. SIRT determined the incident to be out-of-scope of their mandate. Investigators are working to identify and locate the occupants of the suspect vehicle. Residents of Pelican Narrows and the surrounding area will continue to see an increased police presence.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to report it to police. Specifically, investigators would like to speak to anyone who saw a 2016 black Dodge Journey, with Saskatchewan license plate 894 KUG, in the Pelican Narrows area late on Sunday, September 20 or early on Monday, September 21. Information can be reported by calling Pelican Narrows RCMP at 310-RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Prince Albert Serious Crimes Unit and Pelican Narrows RCMP continue to investigate with assistance from Sandy Bay RCMP and specialized RCMP units including Police Dog Services, Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems, the Critical Incident Response Program, and Forensic Identification Section.

Residents of Pelican Narrows and the surrounding area will continue to see an increased police presence.
