Saskatoon Police Service is offering up some advice regarding first day of school photos and protecting a child’s privacy.

Lots of families use signs to indicate the child’s name, age, and grade among other details.

Saskatoon Police Service School Resource Officers suggests families, sharing these photos online, should consider leaving out the child’s name, school name, logo, or location; teacher’s name; age or grade; and home address, neighbourhood, bus stop, or daily routine.

As well before posting check the background of the photo for any identifying details such as house numbers, street signs, vehicle license plates, or landmarks.  And review your social-media privacy settings while avoiding location tags.
