Saskatoon Police were busy on Friday.

A 26-year-old man is facing an aggravated assault charge following an incident involving a machete early Friday morning.

At 5:35 a.m., police were dispatched to an injured person call in the 1700 block of 20th Street West. Call information outlined a man had been assaulted with a machete.

Police arrived to locate and detain a suspect almost immediately. Shortly after, police found a 32-year-old man with what were believed to be serious stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital by paramedics. The 26-year-old man who had been detained was arrested shortly after and has been charged with Aggravated Assault and breaching court-imposed conditions.

Saskatoon Police are also looking for a suspect in a downtown robbery on Friday.

At 5:30 p.m., police were called to the 200 block of 1st Avenue South for a report of a robbery in progress.
Arriving officers learned that a 20-year-old woman was waiting at a bus stop in the area of 1st Avenue South and 21st Street East when she was approached by another woman who assaulted her and took her headphones, phone, and water bottle.
The suspect is described as a woman wearing a white zip-up top, blue jean shorts, white shoes, a burgundy backpack, with short hair and sunglasses.
