The case of a southwest man charged after a “romance scam” in which over $100,000 was stolen from a BC woman is now under the carriage of the Supreme Court.
54-year-old Michael Paul Snow of Maple Creek ran a pre-trial in Sechelt Provincial Court on July 27, facing one count of fraud over $5,000.
Following the pre-trial, the file was transferred to the Supreme Court in Vancouver, BC.
Snow’s case will return to court in Vancouver on the afternoon of September 9, where new court dates will be scheduled.
In June of 2023, a Sunshine Coast woman reported that a man she met online had taken $110,000 from her after gaining the woman’s trust over the course of several months.
Snow was arrested on June 24, 2025, in Maple Creek on a Canada-wide warrant issued by Sunshine Coast RCMP. He was charged and later released from custody.
Police say additional victims have been identified throughout the investigation, although a definitive number of victims was not made publicly available.
