Average retail gasoline prices in Saskatoon have risen 12.0 c/L in the past week, averaging 174.39 c/L yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 81 gas outlets in Saskatoon. This compares with the national average that has increased 4.5 c/L in the last week to 178.79 c/L.

Including the change in gas prices in Saskatoon during the past week, prices yesterday were 44.5 c/L higher than the same day one year ago.

In a news release, head of Petroleum analysis for Gas Buddy is Patrick De Haan said, “Average gasoline and diesel prices rose in every province over the last week, as continued escalations between the U.S. and Iran, renewed Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, and fresh Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries combined to keep upward pressure on both crude and refined product markets.”

There was some good news, oil prices opened sharply lower on Sunday after a weekend pullback in hostilities offered some relief. He suggests the pace of increases at the pump may moderate in the days ahead but in the interim Canadians should expect prices to remain elevated.
