A 25-year-old man faces charges of assault, assault by choking, suffocating or strangling, uttering threats and breaching court-imposed conditions following an assault at a residence in Saskatoon on Saturday evening.
According to a Saskatoon Police Service news release, officers responded to a call at about 8:20 p.m. Saturday that said there was an injured woman in a residence in the 600 block of 4th Avenue North – and that the suspects were still inside the residence with a firearm involved. Police found a 23-year-old woman receiving medical care from paramedics, then set up a perimeter around the home with an assist from the Tactical Support Unit.
The male suspect was arrested without further incident a short time later. The victim and suspects are known to each other with officers learning that they were together inside the home when a physical altercation broke out and the arrested male suspect threatened the victim. She was able to escape and call police for assistance. No firearm was located.
