Saturday will see the return of the Riversdale Art Walk.
The event takes place from 12pm to 5pm and encourages everyone to explore the Art Walk through a self-guided tour of the many exhibitions, live art, performances and interactive experiences hosted around the neighbourhood.
This time around the Art Walk is in partnership with Saskatoon Pride.
The initiative is led by multiple artists, galleries, studios, businesses and community organizations, and helps to put more locations on the map that people may not have been aware of. This edition of the Art Walk will place a focus on public art and animation in the streets.
When talking about how mural artists were selected the main organizer of the Riversdale Art Walk, Carrie Catherine, said, “It was a real mix of community collaboration, commission, and open calls, and so we really are excited that, that’s going to lend to six new murals in the neighbourhood.”
Three of the murals are created in partnership with the community organizations Riversdale Chinatown, the artist collective The 525, and the Riversdale Community Association. Most of the murals will replace hoarding on boarded up buildings.
There are more then 15 venues participating in the Art Walk this time around. Catherine highlighted the AKA Artist-Run Centre, Art Bar, PAVED Arts, Saskatoon Makerspace, SK Arts, and the White Buffalo Youth Lodge
