Twenty-two new sober living spaces will open in Regina by the end of this month.
The Province says these spaces, operated by Oxford House, will support individuals transitioning from addiction treatment to independent living in one of four single-detached homes across the city.
Oxford House Saskatchewan will oversee day-to-day recovery-focused programming, which will include counselling with a focus on relapse prevention, giving individuals the time, structure and community connection needed to strengthen recovery, build life skills and support long-term wellbeing.
A release from the Province says Sober living programs established by Oxford House Saskatchewan have shown a 71 per cent sobriety success at six months and over 93 per cent sobriety success at one year.
The Ministry of Social Services invested $900,000 toward the acquisition and renovation of the spaces. The Ministry of Health is providing $250,000 in annual funding to Oxford House Saskatchewan to provide sober living services. Additional investments include over $486,000 from Oxford House Saskatchewan and $100,000 from the City of Regina.
