Fans of the Saskatchewan Roughriders are being reminded by SGI to find a safe ride home after the game.
SGI’s current recommendations are taking the free Rider Transit shuttles, having a designated driver, staying overnight at a friend’s place, or calling someone you trust to drive you home instead of driving when impaired.
The President and CEO of SGI, Penny McCune says planning a safe ride comes first.
“Getting home safe is a shared responsibility. Whether fans are tailgating at Mosaic Stadium or cheering from the lake, planning a safe ride home should always come first.”
McCune went onto explain that impaired driving is responsible for most fatal collisions in Saskatchewan, and that those collisions are preventable when people plan a safe ride home.
Police can stop impaired drivers during routine traffic stops. Drivers who are stopped can expect to be asked to give a roadside breath sample, even if impaired driving isn’t suspected. Impaired drivers and drivers who fail to comply with the request for a roadside breath sample can face serious penalties.
