A 44-year-old man from Kahkewistahaw First Nation faced a lengthy list of charges in Regina Provincial Court Wednesday following his arrest in a forceable confinement and assault incident.
According to a Saskatchewan RCMP news release, Broadview RCMP responded to a report that a woman was being confined by an armed man at a residence on Kahkewistahaw First Nation. The call came in at 4 a.m. Wednesday with officers immediately responding and arresting Anthony Kinistino. Police were able to determine that he assaulted and pointed a firearm at a female, refusing to let her leave the residence. A second male at the residential property was also threatened by Kinistino with the firearm and his vehicle was damaged. Officers located and seized a handgun in the residence and were told it was never discharged. Neither victim reported physical injuries to police. A list of the charges against Kinistino follows below. Broadview RCMP are continuing to investigate.
Anthony Kinistino is charged with:
- one count, assault, Section 266, Criminal Code;
- one count, forcible confinement, Section 279(2), Criminal Code;
- one count, mischief over $5000 – damage to motor vehicle, Section 430(3), Criminal Code;
- one count, uttering threats against a person, Section 264.1(1)(a), Criminal Code;
- two counts, pointing a firearm, Section 87(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code; and
- one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized, Section 92(1), Criminal Code.
