As the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon embarks on its annual 50/50 sale, the President is hoping to clear things up regarding the recent data breach that occurred at the Kinsmen Foundation.
The cyber incident involving the Kinsmen Foundation happened earlier this week. Posted on the Foundation’s website, a notice reads that unauthorized access had been gained to certain applications on their systems potentially compromising donors’ contact information and email addresses.
Troy Meyers says the data bases that the Club and the Foundation use are entirely different, so people hoping to show their support by purchasing a ticket should not be worried to give their information or receive an email from the Club.
“If you’re hoping to buy a ticket, you will receive an email or a phone call from the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon if you win. Those are not a scam, and we will be calling you from our personal cell phones. It’s an entirely different database. The information that may have been linked with that one, it’s nothing we store, ourselves. ”
Law enforcement were notified immediately, and third-party experts were called upon to support the Foundation as the investigation continues. The organization says it is in the process of contacting donors whose information may have been compromised.
