Amid a wind warning from Environment Canada, File Hills First Nations Fire Teams and the Balcarres & Rural Fire Department have managed to contain a wildfire on the Star Blanket Cree Nation. 

According to a Facebook post from the File Hills First Nations Police Service on Sunday, “a fast-moving wildfire [was] moving north, west, and east spreading from Star Blanket First Nation towards Little Black Bear First Nation.” The post adds that the fire consumed multiple small structures and threatened several homes. 

On the bright side, a social media update Sunday evening stated that crews said the fire was contained and being monitored.
