Manslaughter suspect dealt additional charges following further investigation

RCMP’s Homicide Unit has charged a 25-year-old man with additional charges, on top of manslaughter, following the death of a 21-year-old woman.

Following additional investigation, Darian Montgrand is now facing additional charges following a homicide in Turnor Lake, including three counts, possession of firearm and ammunition contrary to conditions and one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm. The victim’s name was Shalayah Montgrand from Turnor Lake. She was found injured at a home on May 8 and declared by EMS shortly after.

Montgrand made his first appearance in Meadow Lake Provincial Court Monday.
