It’s my Parting Shot for T-F-P and second round, Stanley Cup picks…..
I bragged, a little, yesterday that The Fearless Predictor had seven of the eight opening round series picked correctly – the only miss was Edmonton losing to Anaheim! That was supposed to be the easy choice out of the first round. I had the Oilers winning in five games! Instead, they lose out in six! What gives, Oil fans?!
Sorry, but I have to giggle a little while saying that because I couldn’t be more happy to be wrong!
On to Round 2 and, before you say anything about having waited until after three days worth of games – including one series already being two games deep, making the pick easy – let me tell you that I’m going off my entry into the Saskatoon Media Group’s L-H-L Stanley Cup Playoffs Bracket Pool.
Yes, I picked Carolina to beat Philadelphia. I know, there’s no numbers of games the series goes because series winner was all that was required to play our in-house game. I was going to see Hurricanes in no more than six games – even before the Canes held serve at home in the first two games. Carolina plays a stunningly good and effective team game!
As much as it bothered me to pick Montreal to beat Tampa Bay in the opening round, I will be much happier when the Canadiens lose to Buffalo – a series that will go six games. I fear that if gets to a Game 7 that the Habs will luck out a win. Hence, I think the Sabres need to come through and win this set in short order!
In the Western Conference, my original prediction was going to be a Vegas-Edmonton second round series. Now, it’s the Golden Knights against Anaheim. It still doesn’t matter – the battle-tested Knights will vanquish the speedy Ducks in six games!
That leaves the best series of the round – one that I didn’t see having a 9-6 game in, but that’ll be the last time we see that in a series that will go seven games with Minnesota winning. To me, the Wild are under-rated and better than most, so-called, experts are prepared to give them credit for!
My Minnesota over Carolina Stanley Cup final prediction is still alive – and hopefully will still be going into the respective Conference finals!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
