Saskatoon City Council revealed its hesitancy to move forward with the First Avenue Link BRT Corridor when it sent Administration away to gather more information about the project. 

At a meeting on Wednesday, Administration presented council with an approval report detailing the concept plan changes to the First Avenue Corridor. The motion to approve the report was defeated as presented, and Administration was directed to meet with the Saskatoon Accessibility Advisory Committee to review the accessibility plan.  

Council also directed the Administration to report back with broader operational considerations, including emergency response planning, emergency access and snow removal plans. 

While City staff work to gather that information, work will continue on the Link project elsewhere in the city, with the College Drive Link corridor and numerous station platforms throughout the city currently under construction. So far, 41 station platforms are already built. 

Plans for the corridor include establishing one northbound and one southbound dedicated transit lane in the centre of the street with adjacent traffic flow, removing 61 parking stalls, and installing a platform in the centre of the street for waiting bus riders.
