The Saskatoon Police Service says Cormon Park Police and their officers worked together to snag a suspect in a stolen vehicle.
Around 11:30 p.m. Saturday officers spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen in the area of 22nd Street West and Avenue I North and when they attempted a traffic stop the vehicle sped off.
Officers followed the vehicle to 45th Street west and while a tire deflation device was successfully deployed, the vehicle wouldn’t stop.
A police vehicle was then used to bring the suspect vehicle to a stop on Highway 16. Officers from the Saskatoon Police Service and Corman Park Police Service observed three occupants inside the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle did not comply with police commands, and a conducted energy weapon (CEW) was used.
All three occupants were then arrested without further incident and officers could see the driver had what appeared to be self-inflicted injuries on the driver of the vehicle and provided life-saving measures until paramedics arrived. He was taken to hospital, and the 36-year-old man has subsequently been charged with evading police, dangerous driving, possession of stolen property over $5000, and breaching court-imposed conditions.
Meanwhile, the Saskatoon Police Service says officers responded to a B&E at a business in the 300 block of Confederation Drive Sunday morning at 12:15 a.m.
Information provided to dispatch indicated a window had been broken and the overhead door to a shop had been opened.
Officers arrived on scene and through their investigation were able to view video surveillance of the incident which they say showed the suspect break a window and enter the shop before stealing a vehicle and fleeing the scene.
A few hours later, officers located the vehicle in the 300 block of 2nd Avenue North where the suspect was arrested without further incident. A 34-year-old man has been charged with break and enter and operating a vehicle while being prohibited from doing so.
