So, one of my pet peeves is the various and sundry carts we all have for garbage disposal, that are NOT removed from the alley after garbage, recycle or yard waste pick up. Particularly in the winter. Because if you try to navigate the alley without landing in ruts you will run the risk of hitting one of those carts – left there for days beyond the scheduled pick-up date. Although I am grateful to a couple of my neighbours who religiously put their carts out – sometimes in the hustle and bustle of daily life, I forget which ones goes which days and I’m sitting my vehicle in the garage, in the wee hours of the morning trying to look it up online. We’re coming into spring – I’m convinced enough I’m scheduling a trip to the garage to take the winter tires off – and yes everything starts to green up and grow. But another pet peeve, and I know lots of people say – it’s a back alley – who cares – well I do. I hate my neighbours doing nothing about attending to the weeds and what not growing along their fence lines or the back of the garage. The folks directly behind us – I’ve gone to the trouble of tidying up their drive because I keep the weeds down by their fence in order to park my carts there for pick up. But then I realized they really don’t care – don’t care that all those weeds are blowing into everyone else’s yard. Once the flowers in your flower beds come up and you have some flower pots out in the neighbourhood, mow the dandelions do not share them. I have my own I don’t want more. And it’s too early to rake everyone, all our helpful ladybugs are still asleep, let them wake up and get busy or find a place to put your leaves so they have a chance this summer.
Alleys deserve TLC too and yes spring is on the way
