A federal judge has granted a temporary stay of deportation for the truck driver involved in the deadly Humboldt Broncos bus crash, delaying his removal from Canada.
Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, who was set to be deported to India on Monday, will remain in the country while the Federal Court reviews a challenge to the decision.
Sidhu, who was convicted and served time in prison after the 2018 crash that killed 16 people and injured 13, was granted full parole in 2023.
The stay could last several months while his application for humanitarian consideration is reviewed.
