The Provincial NDP is calling on Premier Moe to quit profiting off the war in Iran and cut the 15 c/L gas tax for Saskatchewan residents.
Deputy Leader of the Official Opposition Vicki Mowat says with the cost of car insurance, power, and now gas all on the rise, Saskatchewan residents are feeling more financial anxiety than ever before.
“Gas prices are soaring; a buck sixty in Regina, a buck sixty-three in Saskatoon, and reports that it’s nearing two dollars per litre in the North,” she relayed.
Scott Moe then accused the NDP of being rather inconsistent with their message, as just last week, the party recommended a policy that he says was not very affordability-friendly. Moe explained that the NDP included a reinstatement of the output-based pricing system in its Big Bold Power Plan, which he says is essentially adding the carbon tax back on the power bills of Saskatchewan people. He also poked fun at the fact that they were advised to include that by an independent third-party consultant from Quebec.
Moe also brought up the NDP’s new campaign director, again, saying this is not the first time he’s struck with hateful rhetoric against someone from another political party.
Just a few days ago, Carla Beck’s Chief of Staff and newly appointed campaign director, Jeremy Nolais, sent out a strongly worded email to party members. The email read ‘Take a moment and think of the faces of all of the ones you hate so much.’ It proceeded to list the names of the Premier, Tim McLeod, Jeremy Harrison, and Jeremy Cockrill.
On Tuesday, Moe revealed this is Nolais’ second known offence of this nature. He read an excerpt from a statement of claim from Caylan Ford, a former UCP candidate.
“He was using his public platform to incite hatred and contempt against his political opponent and to cause her to be further shunned and socially isolated.”
Much like on Monday, Moe called for Beck to stop endorsing hate and remove Nolais from his position.
