Saskatchewan Polytechnic has confirmed that its Electronic Systems Engineering Technology program won’t be relocating to Regina until September 2027, meaning students who were worried about making the move in the middle of their program can rest at ease.

The Opposition NDP broke the news earlier in the week, stating that the ESET program would be offered in Regina following an order from the provincial government made with zero consultation with students or faculty.

In response, 21 ESET students wrote to the Premier, describing the significant inconvenience this causes for many, especially those with young families in Saskatoon and those who can’t afford to pick up and move.

An original statement from Saskatchewan Polytechnic states that the school had contacted affected students directly to review their options for program completion and offer supports. However, a recent statement from the institute says new ESET applications for September 2026 are not being accepted, and students entering year two of their program can continue their studies in Saskatoon.
