Saskatchewan RCMP are warning residents about an email scam sweeping the province.
On Friday, officers received multiple reports that individuals received an email containing a fraudulent ticket. The scammer claimed to be a member of the Saskatchewan Fine Collection Branch and indicated that the recipient had received a Provincial Violation Ticket.
The fake ticket was quite derailed according to RCMP, including a ticket number, a fine amount to pay, a due date, payment instructions, a link to unsubscribe from emails, contact information, and a Provincial Court Services copyright.
RCMP admit the contact information listed is the accurate information for the Saskatchewan Fine Collection Branch, however the ticket information and payment link are fraudulent.
If you receive an email like this, you are asked to report it to your local police, and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre and Saskatchewan RCMP can be contacted by calling 310-RCMP.
