As the occupational safety landscape changes, it’s important for the people enforcing the rules to stay up to date.
That’s the purpose of the 53rd Annual Saskatchewan Safety Seminar, taking place this week at Prairieland Park. It’s one of the largest events of its kind in Western Canada.
Community Relations Coordinator with the Saskatchewan Safety Council Amanda Wood says the seminar is geared towards health and safety professionals in every industry from agriculture to retail.
Wood says over 700 registered delegates will be learning the latest safety-related products and services at the trade show as well as participate in education sessions.
“Committee does select the keynotes and the sessions, and they have that based on first-hand understand of what the most relevant or current or pressing issues are,” she explains. “We do want to hear from our delegates, so we do surveys so we can hear back from our delegates directly about different topics they want to see.”
Some of this year’s keynote topics include leadership when no one is watching and AI navigation strategies.
“We also have Allen and Tanya Kehler. They will share a powerful keynote about the insides of mental health from both perspectives.”
The event is the Council’s largest fundraiser of the year, ensuring that they can continue to provide safety training, courses, inspections and consulting all year round. Registration is open up until the day of the event, which takes place Tuesday through Thursday.
The open house trade show takes place Wednesday between 9:00-4:00, with over 100 booths taking part. Everyone is welcome to attend.
