It’s my Parting Shot for my Monday Musings…..
That was quite the announcement this morning from CJWW morning show host Ben Brooks – on the 50th anniversary, to the day, that CJWW went on the air at 1370 on the A.M. dial – that there will be a live Old Tyme Dance Party on Saturday, March 7th at T-C-U Place. You know that the date for this first of many 50th anniversary celebrations was predicated on there being no Saskatoon Blades’ game scheduled for that night! That way, it’s an open evening to broadcast live the entire proceedings. I’ve also been on the CJWW staff for 31-and-a-half of the 50 years and I’m looking forward to attending and meeting up with a lot of old friendly faces that I worked with over those 31-and-a-half years! I’m also looking forward to the boos I’m going to get from the faithful listeners of the Old Tyme Dance Party when I’m introduced! How many hours have of the legacy program have been pre-empted by Blades’ hockey? In short, a lot! That reaction would be similar if I was to attend a Prince Albert Raiders’ booster club function and be introduced!! Ha, ha!!! Basically, it’ll be another night of being the villain! Ha, ha!!
Hmmm, something brought to my attention that I wasn’t counting on! The N-F-L playoff bracket gets re-seeded after each round. So, how do I explain the rules for winning this thing going forward to the people who entered into the Lazaruk Football League’s Saskatoon Media Group bracket challenge?! Hmmm, indeed!!
Congratulations to the foursomes skipped by Jolene Campbell and Kelly Knapp for winning the Bunge Prairie Pinnacle Women’s and the SaskTel Tankard Men’s provincial curling championships yesterday in Melville. While I wish them both well at the upcoming Scotties Tournament of Hearts and Montana’s Brier, both teams are from Regina! Which, to me, means no national championship for Saskatchewan in either national playdown! Oh me of little faith!!
And, don’t look now, but the Saskatchewan Rush sit atop the National Lacrosse League standings at 5-and-1 through the first seven weeks of the 2025-26 season. From the looks of scores only, it appears like the Rush can win games in any style and fashion that is presented by the opponent – which augers well for a return to championship form?!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
