The Saskatchewan Ministry of health is providing an update on the spike of overdoses that occurred in Regina on November 18th.
Today, the Newo Yotina Friendship Centre in Regina conducted a sample test of a street drug that revealed a concerning concentration of fentanyl and benzodiazepines. It is not confirmed whether this substance is the cause of the recent increase in overdoses in Regina.
The update states that the substance resembles pink chunks, but it is not known what it’s being sold as. In some cases individuals believed they obtained methamphetamine or fentanyl.
During the overdose surge, multiple doses of naloxone and hospital intervention were required in some cases.
This alert will remain in effect until November 26, 2025.
