Operation Red Nose is launching it’s 15th Saskatchewan Campaign in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and North Battleford.
Heather Hubic, Media Relations Manager for SGI, who is Operation Red Nose’s Provincial Partner says that the campaign aims to reduce impaired driving by giving people a ride home during the holiday season.
“These last two months of the year, you’re going to office holiday parties, family gatherings, maybe it’s a sporting event, maybe it’s a dinner out. Sometimes those events can come with drinking or using drugs at some of those get-togethers. So, it really is an important reminder this year to find that safe ride home and plan for it when they’re making those plans as well.”
Hubic says rides can be requested online.
“They can go to operationrednose.com, select their region and then click on request a ride and it will tell you if they’re operating on that day, what time they’re operating and then you can request a ride through the website.”
Operation Red Nose National Development Coordinator Marie-Chantal Fortin says that money donated through the rides will go toward charitable organizations for children in the community.
“The Saskatoon Millennium Lion’s Club is the host organization there and they always give to the Ronald McDonald House in Saskatoon.”
Operation Red Nose will run between November 28th and December 31st, specific operation dates for the three Saskatchewan locations can be found at operationrednose.com.
