The Government of Saskatchewan has approved the transfer of Crown mineral rights to the federal government on behalf of Cowessess First Nation in support of the Saskatchewan Treaty Land Entitlement (TLE) Framework Agreement.

As a result of the transfer, Cowessess First Nation will receive 58 point 74 hectares of Crown mineral rights. This transfer brings the the total Crown mineral rights transferred under the Cowessess TLE Agreement to around 29,350 hectares.

The TLE Framework Agreement was signed by the federal and provincial governments as well as Entitlement First Nations that did not receive all of the reserve land they were entitled to under treaty.
