The company that Saskatoon has selected to manage the future Downtown Event and Entertainment District has had some legal trouble in recent months.
The former CEO of OVG360, Tim Leiweke, was transferred from his position earlier this year after he was charged in connection with an alleged scheme to rig the bidding process at a public arena in Texas.
The indictment states he instigated a successful plan to persuade a rival to not bid on an arena contract in Texas in exchange for gaining sub-contracts. The maximum penalty he could receive is 10 years’ imprisonment and 1 million dollars USD in fines.
In connection to the indictment, The Oak View Group has agreed to pay $15,000,000 USD in penalties. Leiweke is still on the Board of Directors.
